Nutritional Event Observations
Aug 18th, 2007 by Mike
Well, here it is Saturday, August 18, 2007. This morning when I weighed myself it was the 11th time in the 13 day nutritional program.
I have 2 more days and it ends on Monday the 2oth.
So far in the 11 days of eating only whole food and uncooked food I have lost 7 pounds. Oddly enough - this morning when I weighed myself I actually went up a pound.
It’s strange watching my weight fluctuate each day and sometimes it seems there is no rhyme or reason.
Some days it goes down a lot… a little… not at all and even go up.
Is it because of the avocado or the raw nuts??? But when I skip them it goes up??? No reason…
I weigh myself the same time each morning immediately after I wake up. That way it should be relative to each time I weigh myself.
I never did drop coffee 100% as I planned, however I am drinking a watered down 1/2 cup each day with nothing added. So if nothing else I have eliminated the non-dairy fake creamer I had been using (Hazelnut…hmmmm).
I’m not sure exactly how much I will keep eliminated after this Tuesday.
My basic thoughts are that I will basically keep on the same “non-processed foods” diet with the exception that I will eat out a few days each week for dinner.
Of course I’ll try to eat healthy foods, but I am already planning on a burger and Persian food so I know I’ll be eating cooked meat at least occasionally.
Most likely I will get back on this program within a week, as I’d like to drop 10 or more pounds.
While it’s only been 7 pounds so far I have had a few people ask if I lost weight, so it’s good to know my appearance is changing.
My goal is 20 to 30 pounds total so I still have 13 to 23 pounds to go before I am at the target weight of 172.
When I hit that I’ll be able to take a nice break and not worry so much about whether I am gaining or losing.
The great thing about this “13 day nutritional event” is that I have not gone hungry ever. You can eat as much as you want as long as you stick to whole foods that are uncooked with no processing.
The biggest weight loss enemy is processed foods.
I’ve had some salads and raw nuts but other than that stick to the food that comes with the program.
And I have also been following the detox program with the farina each night. I can’t say I feel much different but should point out I had been living pretty well and ate mostly good things anyways. so maybe there is no reason to expect any drastic changes.
One thing I have not done in the past 11 days is exercise. I have been walking which I normally do each day 3 or 4 times with my dog Milo, but no aerobics or wight lifting.
See the Exercise Myth
I do plan to work that in and see if I can get a few more pounds to drop and also start toning my muscles. I’ll really be needing this is I start eating meat again.
Granted I will not go back to eating tons of junk, but I will not try to stay 100% raw. 80/20 is fine for me in the in-between weeks I think.
And some junk I will try not to reintroduce. What kind of junk???
Well, despite my inclination to eat lots of things that are good for me, I have been known to do some bad things as we all do…
I love fried foods… I love chips and salsa… I love various kinds of candy and in the weeks before my “13 day nutritional event” I would have a few sweets each night.
Also “late night meals” were the norm for me.
That is tough to deal with. Night time is the time I want to eat.
It’s a work in progress and I’m sure someday I’ll try to go closer to 100% raw whole foods, but for now I think I have been doing my body some good by at least doing this 13 day thing and cleaning out and then hopefully modifying my habits gradually over time.
Differences between Vegetarian and Raw Food Diets…
There are a few distinct differences between vegetarian and raw food diets. Basically, a vegetarian is someone who is committed to not eat meat, fish, poultry or any animal products, but only consumes vegetables, pasta, and rice. On the other hand, a r…
